Lighting up lives of visually challenged at Vinobha Nagar in Ibrahimpatnam division

Ibrahimpatnam: A non-profit organisation, Sphoorthi Jyothi Foundation, located at Vinobha Nagar in Ibrahimpatnam division, has been rendering services to visually challenged girls and boys for the past 12 years.

It was started in 2007 by Paruchuri Jyothi with the help of freedom fighter late B Ch Rangareddy. Foundation believes in theory that visually challenged people will carry adequate standard of living for themselves and their families. There are 45 visually challenged students at present in the foundation hostel.

"We are providing good education, accomodation, computer training, spoken english and bank coaching in Sphoorthi Jyothi foundation. Children and middle-aged people who belong to Andhra pradesh, Telangana, Jharkhand and are below poverty line are staying here," says P Jyothi. "42 visually challenged students of the foundation achieved Government jobs and Bank jobs in the 12 years span," she added.

A student from Sphoorthi Jyothi Foundation, Durga Bhavani said, "We are very happy here having all types of facilities. We never got a thought that we are visually challenged as all the people here belong to same category."

"We are like a family in the foundation. We are recieving good education which is equal to corporate schools. I never thought that i can speak fluent English in my life, but spoken English classes helped me to achieve that," says Marya, a student from the foundation.

The Director of the foundation Jyothi Paruchuri has been awarded the young achievers award by vande mathram youth front in 2013 and best NGO award from Telangana Disabled department in 2018. Freedom Fighter Manohar Panthulu, Raghunandan IAS, Umapathi IPS(Rtd), Sithikantananda Swamy, Purnachandra Rao, Manohar, Anand, Srinivas, Rajini, Raju are the major persons who are co-operating Sphoorthi Jyothi Foundation.
