Local Military Authority clarifies on Church Gate closure

Secunderabad: The Local Military Authority in a press note clarified that the Church Gate of Bolarum Military Garrison has been closed to all traffic to facilitate construction of a new security gate, which has been necessitated to augment the porous boundary of the station.

The new gate has been taken up in view of the omnipresent security threat to military personnel, equipment and infrastructure located within the garrison. It is reiterated that the Church Gate was closed to all traffic including military vehicles due to the technical requirements relating to the construction of the new gate and the closure is not limited only to civilian traffic as reported in a section of print media.

All other gates that were open to the general public remain open, including the Kawkoor Gate which is located just at a distance of 1.2 km from the Church Gate, said the press release. The construction of the new gate is nearing completion and traffic movement is likely to be restored for all with effect from June 17.
