Locals await CC road construction works
Kapra: As monsoon is around the corner, the GHMC officials of Kapra said there were still 13 CC roads yet to be constructed. The residents of Kapra have been waiting for the completion of the roads to avoid travelling on the severely damaged roads during the heavy monsoon season.
Speaking to The Hans India here on Friday, Jyothi G, a resident of Housing Board Colony, said, "The condition of roads in this area is getting worse. The roads will get worse during the heavy monsoon. Even with a little rainfall, these gaps of road gets filled up with the rainwater. We locals are waiting for these roads to get renovated with proper CC roads. During monsoon, it will become difficult to even walk on these roads, if they are not renovated."
Koteshwar Rao, Engineering executive, Kapra said, "A total of 40 roads have been sanctioned in the previous year with the cost of Rs 95 lakh. This year, six more roads more were sanctioned. The amount sanctioned for these 46 roads is Rs 1 crore. Out of these 46 roads, 39 roads have been completed and more 13 roads are yet to be completed. We are trying everything possible to give the locals a comfortable life and that roads were one of the basic infrastructure which it aims to improve."
Smitha R, an employee in Karnataka Bank said, "The condition of the road was very poor for the past several months. There were many gaps in the road. Due to the poor conditions of the road, there was a lot of damage that was caused to our vehicles frequently. Though the authorities have finally begun to reconstruct these CC roads, they are still causing inconvenience to us during the start of monsoon."
