Mahaveer Jayanti celebrated with gaiety
Begum Bazaar: Digambar Jains celebrated Mahaveer Jayanti with utmost reverence and respect to their last Tirthankara. Majestic chariot processions were carried out across different parts of the Old City with the images followed by thousands of devotees while chanting prayers, live orchestra and music.
Organised by Shri Digambar Jain Sanstha, the procession which commenced from Begum Baazar's Jain Mandir and reached Agapura Jain Mandir covering Feel Khana, Hotel Rajdhani, Moazzamjahi Market, Goshamahal, Kattalmadi.
The procession which was started at around 9 am reached its destination in Aghapua by 1 pm, where different devotional programmes continued to till 3 pm. "The procession started with puja and abhishek to the Mahaveer in which around 2,000 devout took part," informed Lokender Jain, PR Officer, Shri Digambar Jain Sanstha.
Lokender Jain informed that the procession saw participation of thousands of devout, multiple chariots, live orchestra and music. Members of YuvaYuvati Mandal collected waste and disposables in garbage bags and ensured the roads remain neat and clean, in line with the idea of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
"The entire procession was conducted under the guidance of Shri Digambar Jain Sanstha. Post reaching Agapura Jain Mandir, ceremonial bath was offered to the deity of Mahaveer Bhagwan. The entire audience were dressed in White Kurta and Saffron Saree which added even more elegance. The temples were lavishly decorated with flags to mark the birth anniversary of Lord Mahaveera," he added.
