Man cheats hotel, flees as bills total over 12L

Banjara Hills: A person hailing from Visakhapatnam cheated the management of a popular hotel in Banjara Hills, by not paying hotel bills up to Rs 12.34 lakh for his three-month stay. The hotel manager lodged a complaint at Banjara Hills police station. The police are searching for the absconding accused.

According to police, a complaint was lodged by the hotel manager alleging that a person named, A Shankar Narayan, a native of Visakhapatnam, came to the hotel on April 4, 2018 stating that he came to Hyderabad on some business work and requested the hotel management to provide him a single room for throughout his stay.

Based on his request, the management provided him a room in which he stayed for a year. In between he paid Rs 13.62 lakh for which the hotel management trusted him for further payment. Later, when the management requested him to pay the pending bills, he postponed the payment.

On April 15, 2019 he left the hotel without informing the management and did not turn up till date. When the management tried to contact him over phone, they found it switched off.

The total bill was about Rs 25.96 lakh, out of which he had paid Rs 13.62 lakh and evaded the due amount of Rs 12.34 lakh. On receipt of the complaint, police registered a case under sections 420 and 406 IPC and are searching for the absconding accused.
