Mulugu: Efforts are on to permanently resolve the Left-Wing Extremism (LWE) issue in the State, DGP M Mahender Reddy said. The DGP was here to take part in several programmes on Wednesday. Speaking to media persons, he said that they have taken fool proof measures to stop the infiltration of CPI-Maoists into Telangana.

"We are coordinating with the local tribals to get information about the Maoists' movement in the Agency. Our intelligence wing has been working vigorously to track the movement of the banned outfit," Reddy said. The target is to eradicate the LWE completely in the region, he added.

The DGP said the government was providing all the facilities for the police department working in the bordering districts so that they can discharge their duties efficiently. People's safety is paramount to the police. This apart, the onus is on police to educate the youth so that they cannot get attracted to Maoism, Reddy said. "Prior to Andhra Pradesh bifurcation, there were strong opinions that Maoism would be on the rise if Telangana State was formed. But it remained an illusion with the police taking proper measures," DGP Mahender Reddy said.

Earlier, the DGP inaugurated a police training centre and Battle Obstacle Assault Course (BOAC) track at Jakaram village. He also unveiled Medaram Sports Torch, and distributed blankets to Gothi Koyas.

Mulugu District Collector Krishna Aditya, Additional DGP K Srinivas Reddy, North Zone IG Y Nagi Reddy and SIB Prabhakar Rao were among others present.
