Massive drive against touts at railway stations

Secunderabad: A massive drive conducted by Railway Protection Force (RPF) at 49 different locations across the South Central Railway (SCR) Zone on August 22 and 23. Around 49 touts were apprehended and Rs 8.84 lakh was seized during the drive.

During the operation, 281 live tickets and 772 used tickets and a total Rs 8,83,915 cash were seized from the touts who earn commissions on tickets booked by them.

This drive was intended to save the passengers from black marketing of tickets and also to put a stop to the loss of revenue to the Indian Railways as the touts carry out their business without a proper licence. The SCR officials also requested the passengers to purchase tickets from reservation counters and authorised travel agents only.
