Maternity services soon at secunderabad general hospital

Bolarum: The Secunderabad General Hospital (CGH) will soon have a trauma centre and maternity services. At present, the hospital is only functioning for outpatients whereas it is supposed to run for 24 hours. The 30-bedded hospital is only functioning as a dispensary as the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) cites lack of funds to set up in-patient facility.

The hospital was inaugurated on June 2016 by the then Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar. The SCB requested the State government to take over the hospital. The CEO of SCB and the board members submitted representations to the state government in this regard.

Eatala Rajender, Health Minister, Malla Reddy, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Women and Child Development, and Shanti Kumari, the Principal Secretary (Health, Medical & Family Welfare), visited the hospital and inspected its facilities on Friday.

The Health Minister that the maternity services and the trauma centre would begin soon. Malla Reddy said the hospital has good infrastructure and sufficient open space. "The hospital has all it takes to become one of the best in the city, and would be provided adequate funds soon."

Speaking to media, SV Chandrasekhar, the CEO of SCB, said that for the past several years they had been requesting the state government to help the hospital financially. "In order to run a trauma center and maternity services, we need sufficient medical staff.

We have requested the state accordingly," he said. When asked about the state government taking over the hospital, the SCB officials said that the matter was still pending.
