MLC polls: Private teachers demand voting rights
Musheerabad: The Private Teachers' Association (PTA) on Friday demanded voting rights for its members in the Teacher's MLC elections.
Addressing a round-table at Sundarayya Vignana Kendram, association president Badesaab and secretary Pothugunti Ramesh demanded the State government to resolve the problems of private teachers, like insufficient salaries and lack of health cards.
The speakers demanded 10 lakh insurance facility, job security, running of government schools in part with corporate institutions, allocation of 2-BHK houses, reduction of property tax on private school buildings, ESI/PF coverage, six-month maternity leave with salary for women, free education to children and sanction of increments in tune with rising prices. They wanted a special corporation for private teachers to sanction subsidised loans.
