Mobile Biodiversity Festival begins today

Zaheerabad: Deccan Development Society is organising two Decadal Mobile Biodiversity Festival (Jatharas) on January 14 at 11 am at Pastapur in Zaheerabad mandal of Sangareddy district like every year. The event will be celebrated for one month and presents a caravan of 20 bullock carts, which are decorated with a variety of seed, spikes and art pieces, all of which together form a symbol of biodiversity of the region.

DDS Director PV Satheesh said Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar will be the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony. Dr WR Reddy, Director-General, NIRD, and Seetha Ananthasivan, Director of Bhoomi Network for Sustainable Living, will be special guests. Activists and women farmers from Mali and Senegal are also participating in the festival.
