Modi to address 4 poll meets in TS
Hyderabad: With an intention to take the political campaign to a new high, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address four public meetings in Telangana as part of BJP's campaign for the ensuing Parliament elections.
Addressing media here on Tuesday, Telangana BJP president Dr K Laxman said that one of the four meetings of the prime minister will be held in March. Besides, party chief Amit Shah will address six public meetings and Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari and others will participate in the party campaign in the State.
Laxman said the process of identifying potential candidates has begun and BJP will contest alone in all the 17 parliament seats in the state. The Telangana party core committee meeting will be held on March 14 and the names of the candidates will be submitted to the party's parliamentary board. The board will announce the list of contestants, he said.
With the lone exception of TDP, all other parties have remained with the NDA and new parties have joined hands with it. And, BJP is all set to win in more than 300 seats in the ensuing parliamentary elections to form the government at the Centre on its own, he said. Dismissing the claims of the TRS leaders, Laxman said, "The pink party has 15 seats in its kitty. What it has done so far to the state and what it can do, if it wins in 16 parliament seats in Telangana."
Contrary to it, BJP has brought AIIMS and several highway projects to the state with just one MP and asked people to think, what it can do, if it wins in 16 parliament seats. He asked people to think before voting to the Congress as voting to that party will be like voting to the TRS. And, too many Congress MLCs and MLAs have been switching over to TRS after the elections are over. It is the same in the case of other parties in the state. Thus, voting to any party, other than BJP will go to TRS, he said.
"Encouraging defections in different parties, the TRS is only working for the good of only one family and not bothered about the welfare of the people of Telangana," Lakshman said. He asked whether MPs from the state should become Union minister or servants of a family.
