Secunderabad Cantonment: The Women's wing president of Secunderabad Cantonment Board VII ward in Tirumalgiri, N Sarita, on Monday represented to the board officials that local residents were suffering on account of the mosquito menace and piled up garbage, particularly in the vacant area in the Chinnamekala- Peddamekala road.

She told board's sanitary officer Devender that unhealthy conditions were prevailing in several areas of the board limits and that because of mosquitoes many residents were falling sick with fevers. This was causing fears among people. Widespread movement of pigs was resulting in unbearable stink, forcing both locals and travelers to cover their noses while moving.

The representation stated that the residents of the Tirumalgiri Tank Area were involved in daily fights with mosquitoes. They were forced to put up with severe inconvenience caused by piled up garbage and movement of pigs. Sarita later told The Hans India that despite such deplorable unsanitary conditions, the board officials failed to take up minimum remedial measures. She and other residents demanded immediate removal of the piled up garbage/waste.

The board officials responded stating that garbage would be regularly lifted. They stated that anti-mosquito steps would be intensified.
