Patancheru: The district unit of CPI (M) on Wednesday accused the Narendra Modi government of 'looting the poor to fill the pockets of big investors.'

Party's district secretariat member Narsimha Reddy and seniors Panduranga Reddy and Wajid Ali leveled the allegation, while addressing a protest rally held from the party office to local bus-stand in response to the nation-wide call given by CPI (M). They questioned the government for whose benefit it was extending rebates to investors without taking steps to increase the people's purchasing power.

The leaders said that people, including workers, employees, farmers and youths are not happy. They pointed out that the workers lacked minimum wages, farmers did not enjoy the benefit of remunerative prices and youth had no jobs.

"Without increasing the purchasing power of people, the investors are suffering losses," the leaders said. At the same time, bailouts and packages were being offered to big investors. When people are suffering due to lack of food, the government's move to provide public funds to the rich, citing reduced profits, explains for whom the government is working, they said.

The leaders alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while failing to implement his promised jobs and being indifferent to the loss of employment, was resorting to boasting with 'empty slogans in the guise of patriotism.' They demanded steps by the government to strengthen people's financial abilities in these precarious days. Failing this, they warned of launching a massive agitation across the country.
