Hyderabad: After getting the constitutional status, the National BC Commission would be making its first tour of Hyderabad on July 8. Commission's chairman Bhagwanlal Sahani, vice chairman Dr Lokesh Kumar Prajapathi, members Thalloju Achari, Kaulalendra Patel and Sudha Yadav, will hold a meeting at Ravindra Bharathi auditorium on July 8.

The meeting will be organized after the national president of BC welfare association president R Krishnaiah and other BC leaders met the BC Commission at New Delhi and requested them to visit Hyderabad.

The commission would meet representatives of various BC associations, caste associations, employee associations and bank employee associations and receive memorandums from them.

R Krishnaiah urged the representatives of castes which are not include in the OBC list to meet the commission and represent their case at the meeting. Similarly, the representatives of those castes which have been removed from the State BC list could also make requests, he said.

The meeting assumes significance as the commission has been given constitutional status by the central government. The commission can review whether the BC reservations are being properly implemented by the State and central governments. The commission has also been given powers to take measures to prevent atrocities against BCs. National BC Commission has similar powers as that of a civil court.
