National Institute of Small and Medium Enterprises office superintendent axed for cutting down 27 trees

Yousufguda: The police and Forest Department officials have seized a lorry containing cut trees and a crane from the premises of the National Institute of Small and Medium Enterprises (NISME) here. Several huge trees spread across 25 acres were allegedly cut by the NISME office superintendent, as per a plan.

According to eyewitness accounts, the cutting of 27 trees took place in the area behind the police Lines. The lorry was used to shift the cut branches out of the institute. The police and the Forest department staff stepped in when the second attempt to shift the trees branches was made by the officials.

According to NISME director, the official responsible for the tree-cutting has already been suspended. A departmental inquiry is to be ordered into the episode.
