New nala works move at a snails pace
Moulali: The work of laying new sewage nala at Moulali division has been going on for six months now, causing inconvenience to locals and commuters.
Due to the delay in the works, several other issues have been cropping up. The road was damaged, which is causing accidents, and the drinking water pipeline is also damaged. The sewerage water is overflowing on the road, which is causing convenience to the pedestrians, commuters, employees and students in the area.
Khan, a local resident, said, "The works started here before the monsoon, but it is going on at a snail's pace. Officials said that the old sewerage nala would be removed and the new one would be laid soon. But, the old one was removed completely and the replacement is not yet done. Due to this, the sewage water is overflowing and the water is getting stagnated near houses.
Corporator Mumtaz Fathima Ameenuddin never comes out to know the hardships of the people in the division. Her husband Ameenuddin acts like the corporator." MD Siddiqui, another resident, says half of the works were completed four months ago.
The GHMC Officials have not even set up alternate routes for us from Moulali to Bharat Nagar, Old Safilguda, Vinayak Nagar and AS Rao Nagar. There are many mosques in Moulali, where a number of people come to offer prayers during Ramadan festival. After many requests, the officials constructed a small bridge on it. Officials say the work has been halted due to lack of budget, he said.
Srujana, assistant engineer at Malkajgiri, GHMC, said, "At present, there are still 30% of the works are to be completed. The value of project is Rs 10 lakh, including GST.
Currently, we are constructing small nalas and connecting them to the Moulali nala. However, we have stopped the work temporarily due to the monsoon rains. Works will start by next Monday, and we will try our best to get things done as soon as possible.
