Speaking on the occasion, various speakers expressed their fears that the new national education policy seems to be intended to destroy the existing education policy. The policy appears not to favour scientific thinking, they opined. Instead of inculcating a spirit of questioning among students, the policy seems to favour blind beliefs and traditions, they opined.

Expressing apprehensions that the central government may promote 'Shishumandir' culture for pre-primary education, they said that the proposed system has many shortcomings. They questioned the validity of the draft which does not discuss shortcomings of the previous report.

Most of the speakers opined that the draft favours imposition of fundamentalist agenda of the central government. The speakers questioned how a comprehensive education policy can be formulated without any discussion on constitutional goals such as amelioration of social inequalities, socialism and secularism.

Among those who participated in the meeting include TSUTF state general secretary Chava Ravi, vice president CH Durga Bhavani, Somashekhar, RS Kishtaiah, Manik Reddy, Narsimha Rao, Lakshma Reddy and others.
