NGOs join hands, hold free medical camp
Charminar: In a joint effort by NGOs engaged in community service and health-related services, a mega health camp was organised at Khilwat Community Hall, near Chowmohalla palace in Old City on Monday.
The health camp, an initiative by the All India Majlis e Taamer e Millat, was organised by MESCO in collaboration with Azaan International School, Helping Hand Foundation (HHF), Thumbay Hospital, MS Education Centre, MESCO College of Pharmacy and Administrative Staff College of India.
The doctors from MESCO Diagnostic Centre and City Neuro Centre screened hundreds of visitors for general ailments. Free medical tests including CBP, CRP, Blood Sugar, Kidney and Liver tests were also conducted.
Those in need of X-ray scanning were referred to MESCO Diagnostic Centre for free X- Rays. Earlier a blood donation camp was also conducted by the organisation on Saturday and Sunday, as part of week-long celebrations commemorating the birth anniversary of Islam's last Prophet Muhammed.
According to the president (reception committee) and MESCO secretary Dr Fakhruddin Mohammed, "this year marks the 70th year of seminars and celebrations organised by the Taamer e Millat in Hyderabad."
The Minority Affairs Advisor to Government of Telangana, A K Khan, also participated in the blood donation camp on Sunday, while the president of All India Majlis e Taamer e Millat, Syed Ahmed Jaleel, inspected the arrangements. The 3-day medical camp, which began on Saturday, concluded with a rehabilitation workshop and free medical consultation with doctors for the participants.
Fruits to be distributed
Taamer-e-Millat will distribute fruits at different general hospitals and bus depots in the city to commemorate the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammed. According to Fakhruddin, on November 5, the Tameer e Millat will arrange for free distribution of fruits among patients at Osmania General Hospital and to the needy at the Imlibun Bus Station. On November 6, fruits will be distributed at Gandhi Hospital and Rani Gunj Bus Depot while patients at the Niloufer Hospital will be provided free fruits on November 7.
