Officer trainees at HRDI to mentor schoolgirls

Jubilee Hills: A first-of-its-kind initiative called, 'Nurture the Future,' was launched at Dr MCR HRD Institute, between the ISS & IES officers undergoing a foundation course and Nirmaan Organisation.

On the occasion, kits were presented to girl children of Grade 10 studying at Telangana State Residential School for Girls, Borabanda. The kits comprised a school bag, books on inspiring personalities, a pen set, a geometry box, a dictionary, a calculator, an exam writing pad, sanitary napkins, etc.

As a part of the "Nurture the Future" initiative, the ISS and IES officers will be the mentors for 40 girl children of the school. They will maintain a live contact, through internet and mobile phones, with their mentees and provide them counselling and guidance in order to enable them to set challenging career goals and empower them to achieve them.

Nirman will be a bridge between the ISS and IES Officers and their mentees and will facilitate a continuous interaction between them. B P Acharya, DG of the Institute, said that expert career and educational guidance by the ISS and IES officers will be greatly instrumental in ensuring that the girl children enter into right career stream which are in tune with their personality profiles.

Mayur Patnala, founder & CEO, Nirman Organization, informed that the prime motto of 'Nurture the Future' initiative is to preserve the dreams of girl children and enable them to achieve them, despite numerous adversities.

Amelia Betsy, ISS, said that the amazing interaction session between the ISS and IES officers and their respective mentees was greatly instrumental in establishing a pleasant mentor-mentee relationship. K Akhila, a girl child, said that the interaction was thrilling in nature and was thoroughly enjoyed by all the girl children.

The event was attended by 140 trainee civil servants representing 23 States and 15 services, who are attending the 94th foundation course at the Institute. Abdul Waheed, Director, Nirman Organization, Chandra Sekhar, CEO, Nirman Vidya Helpline, Shravan Kasam, Head, Surge Impact Foundation, and Govardhan Reddy, Principal In-charge, Govt. Girls' School, Borabanda, and others were present.
