Pakistani woman reunites with Indian husband
Chanchalguda: A Pakistani National along with her two children reunited with her Hyderabadi husband after being stranded in the neighbouring country during the 'escalation of tensions'. She reached back Hyderabad safely after the issue of Visa was resolved due to active intervention of local politician.
Sumyra Farooqi who returned back safely to the city along with her two children expressed gratitude to Amjed Ullah Khan, the MBT leader, for taking up her case with Indian government and his efforts in bringing her back.
Sumyra who was married to an Indian national, Shaik Ajaz Mohiuddin, was living with her in-laws in the city. The marriage was performed on October 30, 2011 in Karachi. After six months of marriage she came to India on a long-term Indian visa which is valid up to October 13, 2019. During her stay, Shaik Umar Mohiuddin and Shaik Yaseen Mohiuddin were born to the couple.
After living in India for seven years, she went to Pakistan along with her two children to see her ailing father Shaik Junaid Mohiuddin Farooqi on December 4, 2018 on a 90-day 'No obligation to return to India' (NORI visa) with a return ticket of PIA on February 27, 2019. Her visa was valid up to March 3, 2019.
"As scheduled on February 27, she along with her children travelled from Karachi and reached Lahore airport to return to India but due to prevailing tensions between India and Pakistan, the PIA Flight No: PK270 got cancelled and she along with her two minor children got stranded at Lahore Airport. Her NORI visa also expired on March 3, 2019 though she had a long term Indian visa valid up to October 13, 2019," explained Amjedullah.
Meanwhile, her mother-in-law Waheed Unnisa Begum met MBT leader and appealed to him to bring back her daughter-in-law and children. Khan pursued the matter with the then External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and the Indian High Commission in Pakistan for necessary help.
"There were a lot of issues like her NORI visa expired. Her children's Pakistani visa expired and her ticket was also getting expired. After Amjed Ullah Khan wrote to MEA, the Indian High Commission in Pakistan called her up and extended her NORI visa and her children's Pakistani Visa also was extended. She reached back to Hyderabad here safely and celebrated Eid with her husband and in-laws," he added.
