Park exclusively for elderly in the works
Miyapur: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is gearing up for the construction of the city's first exclusive multi-generational park for senior citizens at Mayuri Nagar in 3.5 acres. GHMC West Zone Commissioner Hari Chandana Dasari said, "The park is being developed keeping in mind the needs of the aged. There would be equipment for geriatric people and a geriatric specialist would also be available."
Senior citizens have hand and eye coordination to keep the brain cell active so that the reason we are planning to construct this kind of gym, she added. Officials dealing with the project say that people would come for jogging and walking in most parks but in this park there would be enough equipment for all ages and special care for the elderly.
The park would have several facilities including round pathway, sitting benches, drinking water facility and also the entire park complex would have LED bulbs. The foundation of the park is based on the concept of togetherness where the senior citizen would freely mingle with their age group people.
The budget for this project is around Rs 2.25 crore. The work started in the last week of March and would be completed by the end of July. Different saplings would be planted in the park, said P Chinna Reddy, executive engineer, Serilingampally.
