People fume as water supply turns erratic

Kukatpally: The residents in most colonies of Kukatpally division, such as KPHB, Bhagyanagar Colony, Allwyn Colony, and Jagadgirigutta, are facing difficulties with irregular and low pressure water supply due to the water shortage.

Due to erratic water supply in most colonies in Kukatpally division, a lot of time is wasted, as residents are forced to wait for tap water, leaving their other regular works. Add to it, people are not able to collect adequate water due to low pressure in water supply.

As groundwater levels depleted, most of borewells in the area got dried up and people depend mostly on the water being supplied by the Water Board. Due to water scarcity, the Water Board is unable to supply adequate water to most colonies and currently water is being supplied every alternative day.

While some colonies receive tap water with low pressure, other colonies that are on higher ground levels stopped receiving tap water altogether. As a result, several colonies and bastis depend on water tankers. Increasing summer heat has worsened the situation.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that the board officials have decided to supply water for commercial needs. Several people who spoke to The Hans India expressed anger on the attitude of the board officials. While the people are facing severe inconvenience, the officials are more interested in supplying water to business firms illegally, they lamented.
