People urged to make green drive big success

LB Nagar: Devireddy Sudheer Reddy, LB Nagar MLA, said that Telangana government has been taking several measures to improve greenery through Haritha Haram programme. On Monday, he called on Additional General Secretary of GSI Sridhar located at Nagole, Bandlaguda at his office and discussed with him to improve greenery in the GSI premises.

As part of Haritha Haram initiative, the MLA has been meeting several central and state officials in the constituency to discuss measures to be taken to improve greenery in the constituency. During his visit to GSI, the MLA suggested Sridhar to plant saplings and build percolation pits wherever necessary in the 280-acre vacant land in GSI campus. Responding positively to the MLA's suggestion, Sridhar welcomed the suggestions and agreed to implement them.

Speaking on the occasion, Sudheer Reddy appealed to people of the constituency to plant as many as saplings as possible in the constituency under Haritha Haram initiative. He urged GHMC and forest officials to jointly conduct tree plantation programmes in the constituency. Planting more trees would help in reducing temperature in the constituency by at least 1 degree centigrade, he said.

He instructed the officials to conduct plantation programmes at schools, police stations, market yards, farms, burial grounds, industries, government offices and other vacant places. He appealed to employees of public sector companies, RTC, electricity, school students, voluntary organisations, youth organizations, Dwakra groups and other social organisations to participate in tree plantation programmes.

Sudheer Reddy said that vacant lands in various central and state government offices were identified for tree plantation, which include 280 acres in GSI, 52 acres in Chintala Kunta radio station, 54 acres in Hayatnagar radio station, 64 acres in BN Reddy water works reservoir, 150 acres at Hayatnagar sports ground, 10 acres behind KothapetRaithu Bazar, 5 acres behind VM Homes and 9 acres in Hayatnagar government college.
