Pet adoption is a step to encourage people to adopt Indian dogs and provide them loving homes. "Our mission is to make people to be more aware of the benefits of adoption and also educate them on the right practices that will nature their relationship with their pets," says a spokesperson from People for Animals.

Adoption of rescued animals is the way forward to build a society where humans and animals co-exist respectfully. If we adopt one community animals, then the roads will be free from road kills. Studies also show that a child that grows up with pets develops a sense of responsibility and confidence thus having a positive impact on their personality. Growing up with pets also means that you will have stronger immunity when compared to a non-pet parent, the organisers said

"Dogs and cats are also known to have a therapeutic effect in the sense that having them around controls blood pressure, lower the risk of depression and help a person to cope up with the hectic and pressurizing lifestyle that we all are living in," said an official from People for Animals.

"Adopting and looking after a pet is a huge commitment. There are several roadside stray animals living in appalling conditions and subjected to starvation and dehydration. Only a handful of them get saved by the animal rescuers while the rest are largely ignored. As an organisation, we believe in an inclusive society and encourage more and more pet lovers to join this movement and be a part of this adoption drive," added a spokesperson from METRO Cash & Carry.
