Phoenix group supports ultra marathon runner
Hyderabad: City-based Phoenix Group, a diversified conglomerate having interests in realty, automobiles, power and mining, has announced its support to Raj Vadgama, India's top ultra marathon runner and founder of Xtreme Sports India. Vadgama is the only Indian amongst the 100 from across the world to participate in Bad Water Basin Run in 2019, known as world's biggest, toughest and prestigious race.
Bad Water Basin Run is considered as the world's toughest foot race covering 135 miles (217 km) in 48 hours non-stop, from Death Valley to Mt. Whitney in California. This the most demanding and extreme running race offered anywhere on the planet. The start line of the race is at Badwater Basin, Death Valley, which marks the lowest elevation in North America at 285 feet below sea level and finishes at Whitney Portal, which is at 8,000 feet above sea level, the highest point in the United States.

"Raj Vadgama will be performing a 6-hour dry run on May 19, along with his other runners from Hyderabad, and the run would be flagged off from the corporate office of Phoenix Group in Jubilee Hills. The run would cover areas of Jubilee hills, Nanakramguda, Madhapur, Financial district and will culminate at the headquarters of Phoenix Group", King said.

The Badwater course covers three mountain ranges for a total of 4,450 metres of cumulative vertical ascent and 1,859 metres of cumulative descent. Competitors travel through landmarks like Mushroom Rock, Furnace Creek, Salt Creek, Devil's Cornfield, Devil's Golf Course, Stovepipe Wells, Panamint Springs, Keeler, Lone Pine, Alabama Hills, and the Sierra Nevada. The 42nd edition of The Badwater 135miles (217 KMS) is all set to take place from July 15 to 17 in California, USA.
