Pile-up of garbage in Banjara Hills
Khairatabad: Garbage has been piling up everywhere in Banjara Hills area which is known for its neat and clean roads. The stretch of Banjara Hills Road No. 7 is filled with garbage in all the corners of the street. Residents demand that GHMC officials address the issue and ensure that the garbage is removed regularly. It appears that neither residents nor the GHMC officials seem to be concerned about lifting of the piled-up garbage from the colonies.
Despite several complaints, the construction waste has not been removed and left over for long, locals alleged. They are apprehensive that the piled-up garbage may result in spread of diseases. Some locals have alleged that supervisors and contractors who are responsible for monitoring the lifting of garbage are neglecting their duties.
Mohan, an Assistant Professor, JNTU, complained of unauthorised dumping at corners of streets in Banjara Hills. "I pass by that area where garbage is dumped every day and after a few days it is burned. There are several schools and colleges around here and people are forced to inhale the smoke," he says. Another resident of Banjara Hills, Priyanka says, "Along with the domestic waste, construction debris is also dumped here. "The smoke emitted by the garbage burning is harming both people and animals in the area."
