Plastic chokes nala drains in Shaikpet

Shaikpet: The locals living around Bholakpur nala at Hakeem Shah Colony near the Shaikpet are extremely worried over the poor condition of the nala. Choked with plastic dump, the nala is in its worst condition. The stagnant water was also becoming a breeding ground for mosquitoes and rodents.

Speaking to The Hans India here on Tuesday, a local resident said, "Plastic and polythene are the major items which are dumped in the drain, causing water to get clogged. The nala has become a place filled with diseases which are affecting the locals who live near the nala.

Last year, the GHMC came up with nala distillation drives but it has not reached till here as of now. I request the GHMC to come up with a permanent solution to this problem. Plastic usage is a major reason for the nala getting chocked across Hyderabad."
