Plastic waste removed

Hyderabad: Following the announcement of GHMC Commissioner Dana Kishore that a special drive would be undertaken in the month of May for removing plastic waste from vacant areas, nalas and other areas, various teams of GHMC headed by Deputy Commissioners started collecting plastic waste at various places across Greater Hyderabad on Thursday.

In Kukatpally circle alone, 2 tonnes of plastic waste, packed in 300 plastic covers, was collected on Thursday. The drive was also started at Rajiv Swagruha Complex in Serilingampally division. Nearly 25 plastic bags of waste were collected in NTR Grounds and other vacant areas in Musheerabad circle. LB Nagar MLA D Sudheer Reddy himself participated in the plastic waste collection drive held at Vanasthalipuram on Thursday.

Secunderabad zonal commissioner Raghuprasad started the drive at Sitaphalmandi. Plastic waste collection drive was also initiated at Kothagunta of Chanda Nagar circle, Rakshapuram of Chandrayangutta circle, Chilukanagar of Uppal circle, Beerappaguda and Anjaiah Nagar of Gajularamaram circle on Thursday.

GHMC commissioner has set a goal of collecting at least 200 tonnes before World Environment Day, which falls on June 5.
