Pleas to restore dug-up roads before monsoon
Nagole: The roads of Mamatha Nagar Colony hereweredug up a month ago and haven't been re-laid ever since. "Stakeholders who dug up the roads for construction or repairs should fill up the fissures before the monsoon arrives," says Satya Reddy, a resident.
"They take their own time to fill these dug-ups, or don't do it at all. Rain water fills them up, putting the lives of the residents at risk.Thedug-ups are often not redone or asphalted immediately. It's common for perfectly laid roads to develop bad stretches after they were dug up. Warning signs should beput up at least 500 metres before the repair site to ensure commuters are safe," Reddy added.
The road should be repaired before summer ends, because as monsoon starts to approach, it will be a difficult task to repair the roads, say residents. They also say that apart from road repairs, the authorities have also delayed desilting works in many parts of the area.Repeated complaints have been made on this issue, but still there is no response from the authorities, they said.
