Pothole-filled Mir Alam stretch hits commuters hard
Rajendranagar: Commuters have to go through hardships at Mir Alam Filter on the city outskirts due to potholes and patches for almost a kilometre. This situation is a palpable example of negligence on the part of officials who have failed in filling the potholes on this busy National Highway No. 44 and make it a convenient passage to travel for the road users.
While the works of slab culvert is going on one side of the road for the past three months, the other side is the only way left for the commuters to move on. However, for the past several months this side of the road has developed a number of potholes and even road became uneven at several places.
The situation turned more appalling with the recent incessant rains that filled the potholes with water and erased out the surface of the road to such an extent that crushed stones had to be scattered around the road. The bizarre situation made it difficult for the commuters to move on conveniently on the road.
Officials have taken up slab culvert works on one side of the road and closed it down for the commuters without considering the condition of the other half of the stretch. Commuters were simply forced to carry on the road full of potholes and crushed stones on the stretch for almost a kilometre.
This is a busy National Highway which leads to Shamshabad International Airport, beside NAARM, Natianal Institute of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj (NIRD&PR), Agriculture University and many other government establishments.
"Delegations from around the world take this route too to reach International Airport viz a viz the city. Though the officials are fully aware of the importance of this route, but they continue to look away from the issue the reason better known to them," said Mohammed Jahangir, Area Sabha member, Hassan Nagar.
One side of the road at this stretch was closed for almost three months as R&B is constructing a slab culvert by increasing the size of already existed Nala here. This is to facilitate the sewerage coming out from Teegal Kunta and Chashma to flow into the lake through the augmented slab culvert.
