Power cut off to fire station over dues

Moghalpura: In a bizarre incident, the power connection of the fire station here was disconnected by the electricity department on Saturday due to non-payment of dues.

It was learnt that after giving several warnings of cutting off the power supply, the electricity officials took the drastic step. It came to light that the reason for non-payment of dues was non-release of allocated funds from the budget.

After the power connection was removed, the staff of the 'emergency services' was left to fend for themselves in the dark of the night. Some of the staff who had to finish their official work took the help of street light, much to the amusement of the locals.
