Prisoners-run fuel outlet profit at 30L a month

Hyderabad: Life convicts operating a petrol pump at Chanchalguda have earned a profit of Rs 30 Lakh per month at the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) petrol pump at Chanchalguda which completed its sixth year on Wednesday.

"I appreciate the commendable work done by IOCL Petrol Bunk, Chanchalguda, by giving average per day sale of Rs 30 lakh and generating an average monthly profit of Rs 30 lakh and the rental which is more than Rs 2 lakh.

This progress is encouraging as it generates employment for more than 70 prisoners at the fuel outlet. Out of these 70 prisoners, 29 released prisoners are working at the depot, and each is earning Rs 15,000 per month," said B Saidaiah, Inspector General of Prisons (In-charge), Telangana State, who was the chief guest on the occasion.

K Arjun Rao, Superintendent of Prisons, Dr D Srinivas, Deputy Superintendent of Prisons, A Venkatesham, Jailor, V Shashikanth, Jailor, S Vijay Kumar, Jailor, and R Srinivas, Jailor along with all deputy jailors and all jail officials were also present.
