Privatisation of Osmania University messes opposed

Osmania University: Leaders of the Telangana Vidyarthi Samithi (TVS), DSU, PDUS (V) Kota Srinivas, Janardhan and Anand on Thursday held out a threat that their organisations would not remain silent if the Osmania University messes were privatised.

These leaders submitted a representation to Vice-Chancellor Prof Ramachandram and Registrar Gopal Reddy impressing upon them to drop the mess privatisation move and instead strive to solve problems on the University campus.

Later, speaking to the media, the leader said that the OU officials should focus more attention on solving the water shortage issue. They demanded waiving of mess dues and the government itself paying the mess bills. They wanted biometric system to be introduced for professors and called for efforts to increase the attendance percentage. Leaders of TVS Srikanth, Kranthi and Govind were present on the occasion.
