Privilege cards sought for differently abled

Kapra: National Forum for Securing Rights of Differently-abled – Telangana has demanded sanction letters of determining 21 types of disabilities and to issue ID cards that are valid across the country after holding special camps.

forum members held a meeting at Kamalanagar CITU office, and All-India general secretary Muralidharan attended the meeting as the chief guest. Muralidharan sought sanction of Rs 5,000 as pension for persons with 80% disabilities and Rs 3,000 as special allowance, besides special steps for women and children.

He wanted 5% seats for disabled children in government and private schools, provision of health insurance and steps to unearth skills and sport talent among differently-able persons.

The forum secretary demanded 4% reservations in jobs and filling of backlog government posts, besides giving preference for disabled in transport and technology sectors. He demanded setting up of an advisory board and appointment of a special commissioner for overseeing the implementation of laws, setting apart 5% of funds of all ministries for the welfare of disabled.

Muralidharan said there was a need for a countrywide agitation to secure the demands of the differently-able persons. Forum's state president Gorinkala Narsimha, secretary Adivayya, Medchal-Malkajgiri district president and secretary Guruvelli and Venkat and Ranga Reddy district unit leaders Nagalakshmi, Amaravati, Ramesh and Prasad were present on the occasion.
