Promoting maths as pop culture

Comedians and influencers joined Bhanu Prakash, the fastest human calculator, to discuss maths phobia, mind training and promoting maths as a pop culture mind sport on National Maths Day on Tuesday.

To mark the day, Neelakantha Bhanu, the world's fastest human calculator and holder of 50 Limca Records, did a live stream on his YouTube channel to promote maths. The panellists include leading Indian comedians Naveen Richard, Abijit Ganguly, Praveen Kumar and India's only female mentalist Suhani Shah. This is the first time that mathematics was promoted on social media by bringing together artists, promoting math as a pop culture sport.

The highlight of the stream was Bhanu racing past his current maths world record of consecutively adding a two digit number 42 times under 15 seconds (which was 40 times under 15 seconds). The panellists played a fun math game where they had to add a bunch of numbers, which would appear quickly on the screen.
