Protective walls for nalas demanded
Nacharam: Negligence and lack of monitoring from officials concerned have resulted in several accidents in Nacharam. Several bridges on the nala from Patel Kunta tank to HMT Pedda Cheruvu do not have protective parapet walls and local commuters and children who ply on the roads fear crossing the bridges.
A small error can cause serious accidents and commuters crossing the bridges may fall into nalas and such accidents have been reported in the past. Locals allege that authorities have failed to construct protective walls on the bridges despite several complaints by the local residents.
Thousands of commuters, including children and students, use the bridge at Errakunta and Kartikeya Nagar. Expressing his anger at official apathy, a local resident, Narsing questioned authorities if they address the issue only after an accident.
Another local Kranthi expressed fear that a slight error may result in person falling into the sewage drain. Locals appealed the public representatives and authorities to respond to their issue and build protective walls on bridges at the earliest.
