Protests against police curbs during bandh
Patancheru: CPI(M) district working committee member K Rajayya on Sunday strongly criticised the TRS government for its silence on the RTC strike despite being pulled up the high court accusing it of being 'dictatorial'.
Addressing a rally from Shramik Bhavan to Ambedkar statue, organised to protest against the restrictions placed by the police on the striking RTC employees and others during Saturday's bandh, he stated that the government had failed to make the bandh by the employees, various political parties and people's organisation flop.
Rajayya strongly condemned the arrest during the bandh of hundreds of RTC employees and others in districts although they were protesting peacefully. He questioned the motive of the government for not holding discussions with the RTC JAC despite the court's directive.
He accused the government of failing to react although the strike entered the 16th day on Sunday and the people's sufferings. The CPI(M) leader said the government could not escape a censure for not holding talks for ending the strike.
He warned that the strike would be intensified if the government failed to end it by conceding the demands of the striking employees. Among the CPI(M) leaders present in the rally were Nageswar Rao, Srinivas, CITU leaders Raju, Rajeshwar Reddy, Sudhakar, Krishna Rao.
