Pseudo cop held under PD Act

Rachakonda: Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat on Tuesday detained a pseudo police offender named Ch Chandu from Abdullapurmet police station limits under the PD Act. The accused was arrested on June 26 and later remanded in judicial custody and lodged in Cherlapally Central Prison. In pursuance of confessional statement of accused, police recovered 16 tolas gold ornaments, a bike and net cash of Rs 3 lakh from his possession.

Since 2012 the accused had been indulging in committing of robberies and extortions acting as a police in the police station limits of Hayathnagar, Abdullapurmet, Choutuppal, Keesara, Pochampally, and Ghatkesar of Rachakonda Commissionerate, and also in Shameerpet police station limits of Cyberabad Commissionerate. In 2012, he was arrested for extortion.

Despite being arrested for several offences, he had not mended his ways and committed as many as 30 offences of robbery and extortions in the limits of both the commissionerates. To meet his lavish expenses and to get easy money, he would target couples at isolated places and extort money and jewellery by threatening to expose them, the police said.
