Quli captures hearts yet again
The magnificent Falaknuma Palace bore witness to the love story of King Quli Qutub Shah and Bhagmati, as Qadir Ali Baig Theatre Foundation's globally-acclaimed play played out on the Rajasthani Lawns, against the palatial edifices.
The enchanting evening of theatre rekindled romance and history amidst the audience who came out in large numbers to watch celebrated maestro Mohammad Ali Baig's theatre spectacle.
The play returned to its home city from recent performances at the University of Oxford and Qadir Ali Baig Theatre Festival in Dubai. With spellbinding performances by Baig who played Quli Qutub Shah, the founder of Hyderabad, and Noor Baig as the beauteous Bhagmati, impressive support by veterans Vijay Prasad and Rashmi Seth, the play also featured a striking shadow dance by Kavita Golechha and live Qawwali by Khadeer Ayyazi and his musicians.
The well-crafted play was written by Noor Baig and Mohammad Ali Baig, with Urdu translation by late Kadir Zaman. Audience had a great experience of watching the play at the magical venue as the period production took them back in time to an eternal love legend.
