Nampally: In a hair raising experience, a railway worker who was stuck between a railway platform and a moving train, which was picking up pace, was pulled out by an alert watchful man, just before steps on the rear of bogie could tear him apart.

According to eye-witnesses, on the night of October 26, Mohammed Ishrath Ali, Chairman of Telangana Human Rights Protection & Development Forum, along with his associates, went to Nampally railway station to give send-off to one of their associates, who boarded the Nizamuddin Superfast Express on his way to Haryana.

"Even as the train was picking up speed, a person who was attempting to jump from moving train onto the platform, slipped from the door and his body below torso was hanging below the platform. His cries for help attracted the attention of Ishrath who was close enough. He immediately lunged towards him and grabbed hold of him and pulled him out in the nick of time, before the bogie's stairs could tear apart the worker," said one of the members of forum.

Within a few minutes Railway Police and higher officials rushed to the spot. They also spoke to Ishrath and got more details about the incident. And, Incidentally, there were no CCTV cameras facing the spot where the incident took place. Later, it came to light that the man who had jumped from the running train was in fact one of the railway workers named K Sivaraju.

Ishrath's timely act of pulling out a man precariously close to fangs of death was lauded by the officials present on the occasion. "God almighty has given me this chance and He knows better how to take service from his beings," said a humble Ishrath.
