Railways pick-up & parcel service at doorstep

Hyderabad: The South Central Railway has introduced a customer-friendly service with parcel packing and allied services right at the doorstep of customers who want to transport their belongings. Services have been introduced at Secunderabad and Hyderabad railway stations. At both these stations, an agency has been fixed with an earmarked space of 150 square feet.

In the past, customers used to hire the services of private individuals. Railway officials say that the service will get streamlined and there would be standardised service. Officials say that the service would be extended to other important railway stations in a phased manner. The problem of overcharging would be solved and proper bills would be provided.

The agency will provide manpower and packing material to meet the requirements of customers at these two parcel offices. Other optional and value-added services include facility for packing of other luggage/parcels and door-to-door pick-up and drop facility.
