Rally sensitises people on water conservation

Nacharam: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board's (HMWSSB) in association with St Pious College and Snehapuri Colony Welfare Association took out rally in various colonies sensitising people on water conservation on Monday.

GHMC officials said a special programme called 'Water Leadership and Conservation' (WALC) is being undertaken to explain people on how to save water. The board has now set up teams across all 150 wards of GHMC to help identify and minimize the loss of water.

Each ward has a team of about 100 members, including bureaucrats, technocrats, RWA members, local residents, environment activists and people from various institutions. These teams will visit areas earmarked by the water board and interact with residents and motivate them to conserve water. The teams will explain efforts taken to minimize wastage of water.

The officials said that water sufficient for four lakh people is going waste every day even after taking several measures.

Water board director Sridhar Babu, Division 14 GM Kiran, DGM Krishna, Manager Venugopal, St Pious College staff, residents of Snehapuri Colony and others took part.
