Osmania University: Prof Nageshwar, Ponnala Lakshmaiah and Tammineni Veerabhadram on Thursday offered lime juice to The Unemployed front chairman Chanagani Dayakar who was on 24-hour hunger strike since Wednesday.

It may be recalled that all student unions came forward to fight against problems being faced by students in the university. The agitators criticised state government for planned weakening of universities. They expressed ire stating that the government was not concentrating on its electoral promise of providing KG to PG free education.

"There's delay in release of funds to Osmania University. The administration went haywire with no vice-chancellor. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is depriving students from financially backward students of higher education.

There are hundreds of faculty posts vacant," they added. Chanagani said the protest wouldn't stop until students' problems are solved. He said he would submit a memorandum listing all problems to the Governor. He threatened the government that the protest would be intensified if their demands were not met.
