Relief works apace on a war-footing: GHMC

Hyderabad: Following heavy spells of rain for past three days, though intermittently, GHMC officials swung into action and pressed into service their MET (Monsoon Emergency Teams) and DRF (Disaster Response Force) teams to clear water-logging to facilitate normalcy in traffic on roads which are chock-a-block with vehicles and motorists and pedestrians too. Mayor Bonthu Ram Mohan and his Deputy Baba Fasiuddin are actively inspecting the relief works of MET and DRF teams across the city.

AT WORK ACROSS CITY

  1. 384 special teams were clearing problems due to heavy rains. They comprise 252 mobile teams and 132 static teams.
  2. 13 DRF teams are allotted to important as well as most problematic areas.
  3. GHMC officials watching the conditions from the Command & Control Room.
  4. Baldia advised people to dial 100 or 040-21111111 in case of any civic emergency.
  5. A control room is arranged at Buddha Bhavan EVDM office.
  6. 120 mini mobile emergency teams arranged with tree cutters, pump and axes.
  7. 38 mobile monsoon emergency teams are allotted with generators and five labours to manage situation.
  8. 15 central emergency teams are in availability to clear the problems.
  9. 132 local emergency teams in important areas to clear water stagnation
  10. 255 pumps are being used to drain water at stagnation areas.
