Residents hold free pollution check-ups

Kondapur: With the aim of supporting pollution-free environment, the Gautami Enclave Residents Welfare Association (GERWA) organised a free vehicle pollution check-up camp for both two-wheelers and four-wheelers in their colony in Kondapur on Saturday.

Gautami Enclave is a green lush colony with 1,600 residents, living in 70 standalone apartments. It has a committee of 9 members. All the residents of the colony came together and participated in the camp. The camp was sponsored by the Botanical Garden branch of Indusind Bank.

At the camp, an RTA-approved pollution check-up van was arranged to conduct pollution tests. Around Rs 8,000 was paid by the bank for the rent of the RTA-approved pollution check-up van. More than 350 vehicles were tested and were also issued with the Pollution test certificate in the camp.

Speaking to The Hans India, Janardhan Reddy, the president of GERWA, said, "There is a lot of pollution caused by the vehicles. We have been organising different camps to make our colony a better place to live in. There are many people who do not bother to carry out pollution check-up for their vehicles, which can harm the environment."

He further added, "I urge other colonies to take up this camp and ensure their vehicles are creating less pollution. We, citizens, can do our part by taking such steps. After what is happening in Delhi, the future of Hyderabad is in our hands."
