Secunderabad: Residents of SCB ward 5 are vexed with water shortage issue as drinking water is being supplied for 40 minutes once in four days. The water pipelines are old may be rusted which hinders the flow of water.

Residents alleged that the SCB was neglecting the water issue and also delaying in taking action in decreasing the water tariff rates. Most affected areas are Gruhalakshmi colony, Vasavi Nagar Colony, R&D Colony, Ishaq Colony, Trimulgherry and surrounding areas of Kakaguda.

SCB collecting huge water bills

"In GHMC areas, slum residents get a bill of Rs 100 whereas, in Cantonment areas, we get a bill of Rs 240. SCB residential colonies are paying Rs 450 per month. For the past 40 years there has been no proper replacement of the water pipelines," said Suresh Chandra, a resident of Ishaq Colony.

SCB water tankers are not supplying water on time, we are purchasing water from packaged water cans," said Kakaguda resident R Srinivas. "Apart from the irregularity of water supply, there is no particular time, we wait outside our houses with our buckets. Also, no alternate arrangement has been made to provide pure water," said Vijay Amma, resident of Kharkhana.
