Rich tributes paid to Indira Gandhi

Malkajgiri: Local Congress leaders, led by Malkajgiri Congress president Srinivas Goud, paid homage to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her death anniversary here at Malkajgiri X Roads on Thursday. Malkajgiri Congress in-charge Nandikanti Sridhar garlanded the statue of Indira Gandhi and paid rich tributes. 

Speaking on the occasion, Sridhar said that the former Prime Minister strived for the welfare of poor and gave a slogan 'Gareebi Hatao.' Describing her as an iron lady, he said she faced many challenges during her political tenure.

Later, the Congress leaders also garlanded the statue of former Home Minister and freedom fighter Sardar Vallabhai Patel on his birth anniversary. Jeedi Srinivas Goud, Venkatesh Yadav, Srinivas Reddy, Guthi Chandu, Ghouse, Santhosh, PK Srinivas Mudhiraj, Asha and others were present on the occasion.
