Rich tributes paid to Komaram Bheem
Serilingampally: State BJP Executive Committee member Jnanendra Prasad on Sunday garlanded the statue of Komuram Bheem in Ashoknagar on the Old Mumbai Highway to mark his jayanthi.
Addressing the gathering, he described Komaram Bheem as a leader of Girijan agitation who waged a guerilla fought against the Nizam's rule. Prasad recalled that Bheem had not only ensured protection of local forest, he also conducted an agitation opposing the Nizam's levy on shepherds and leding the historic struggle for Adivasi rights.
The BJP leader stated that Bheem had sacrificed his life while fighting against Nizam's loot and atrocities. The tribal icon had also opposed the faulty policies of officials, he added. Among those present on the occasion were BJP and BJYM leaders Shravan, Manoj, Naveen, Ravinder Naik, Ravi, Kattappa, Dilip and Sangappa.
