Rich tributes paid to Major Padmapani

Vanasthalipuram: Representatives of the 'Corporate Vidya Niyantrana JAC' and Bharatiya Vidyarthi Reservation Samithi (BVRS) jointly paid tributes to the late Major Padmapani Acharya at his statue here to mark Martyrs Day, with local ACP Gandhi Narayana as the chief guest. Chairman of JAC Chennoju Srinivas and BVRS chairman S B S Chary garlanded the statue.

The ACP told the gathering that the sacrifices made by the Kargil martyrs would always remain etched in the people's memory. He urged the people to salute the soldiers who were protecting the country's borders. Narayana suggested to the people to take up tree plantation in the name of Acharya, thus protecting the environment.

Vanasthalipuram CI Venkatayya, Nandigama Venkatesh, who made the statue, JAC vice-president Bacchu Ramakrishna, general secretary Venugopal Reddy and others were present.
