Nacharam: With the public representatives and officials totally failing in providing minimum facilities for the upkeep of the Nacharam-Chilukanagar road, local residents are suffering untold hardships.

The condition of the road, linking the Nacharam Industrial Estate with Chilukanagar, Hemanagar and Boduppal, which is used daily by both light and heavy vehicles, has turned worst during the last two years. There have been no repairs to it, indicating the officials' 'irresponsible' behaviour towards public issues, local residents told The Hans India.

The residents said the deep pothole-filled road has caused many accidents in the recent past. They pointed out that road-users have been forced to travel on the stretch in the absence of any alternative. During night travel they have to put up with hardships unable to spot the ditches and potholes, said a local resident Karunakar, while expressing anguish over the official negligence towards the road.

Some residents also alleged misuse of public funds in the Nacharam ILA by officials resorting to abuse of power and indulging in irregularities. They accused officials of diverting funds set apart for improvement of roads, streetlights, sanitation, while appealing to officials to at least now take remedial measures to solve the problems caused by poor maintenance of the Nacharam-Chilukanagar Road.
